Bakewell in Bloom wants businesses to branch out and create fantastic window displays for a very special occasion.

Bakewell in Bloom is going for a gold award with the annual launch of our best-dressed shop window competition.
This year, we want businesses to let their imaginations run wild and create stunning displays as part of a magical floral ‘trail’ through the town during the summer months of June and July.
From window boxes bursting with flowers to floral sculptures or bloom-themed bakes, anything is possible in this exciting new initiative, designed to throw a spotlight on the town. Other towns have created enormous flower scissors in hairdressers, floral martini glasses advertising bars and even flower sausages outside butchers!

Key businesses have already signed up to take part in the floral fun but Bloom Group is hoping many more will take this opportunity to show Bakewell at its very best, not only for the RHS ’in Bloom’ judges but for the many visitors who flock to the high street during the summer months.
Shopkeepers, restaurant owners, hair and beauty salon proprietors are being encouraged to demonstrate their community spirit by taking part in the competition which will be based on the theme ‘Say it with Flowers.
The advantage of the competition is that they can use the display to promote their business while helping the town impress the RHS ‘in Bloom’ judges.

Last year Bakewell won silver gilt in the regional ‘In Bloom’ competition, a terrific achievement but we just feel we need an extra push and with the help of our local businesses, can again win the prestigious gold award.

‘The competition is also a brilliant opportunity for Bakewell businesses to get together and create a magical trail for visitors to follow. It promotes the town in a positive way and creates a feeling of camaraderie amongst those who live and work here.
‘We want to show just how proud we are of our town, while retaining its integrity as a thriving rural community. We are sure that if people come together we can produce something really spectacular.’

Bakewell in Bloom isn’t just about flowers, it also helps to raise awareness of green issues and highlight the work of individuals and communities who strive to make environmental improvements, tackle community issues and create sustainable projects.

With news that there will be no Bakewell Show in 2018, Bakewell in Bloom is being viewed very much as an opportunity to raise the profile of the town and highlight its rural attractions. It is well-documented that winning gold boosts tourism and elevates a town above the rest and of course visitors can’t fail to be impressed by a stunning show of beautiful flowers.

The Bakewell in Bloom group are on hand to help shopkeepers and all businesses who want to take part in the trail. They can offer inspiration as well as practical help.

Please confirm your business will be taking part so that you can be added to the Summer 2018 ‘Say it with Flowers’ trail.
